Just in case you have the time to learn a new tune (ha!), Tommy People’s Reel is well worth learning. Really lovely tune although tricky to make it solid and sound easy. Hope you like it.

Link on La Sansonette page fixed
Sorry about the link to the wrong pdf. I think it’s fixed now. And I’ve managed to update the pdf of A-Z of all tunes for printing… so that gets you all 54 tunes!
Many thanks to those who found my error.
Two tunes added…
Finally now that Finale songwriter is working again (phew), I can quit struggling with new programmes and spend the time looking for good links to listen to… I have been meaning to post up these two tunes since last summer as they are fun to play (at any speed). I have some more to post too as I try to catch up on the backlog… so hope to post some more next week…. meanwhile, I hope you enjoy these two:
La Sansonette and
Change of venue for Sunday 5th November
Dear Slow Sessionistas
Gig to look forward to: Sunday 29th October, White Hart Wolvercote
The Owl Light Trio are playing on Sunday (29th Oct) evening at the White Hart Pub in Wolvercote. Jane is our fiddle and piano teacher and naturally we are massive fans! Come along and find out for yourselves how good they are…
Finally another tune: Ille Bhig
I’m sorry it’s taken so long to update the website. I’ve got a queue of tunes to add but first my old music notation software has decided to stop updating… and when my computer software upgraded, it stopped working… so I’ve had to find a new option…. and then learn how to use it!
Anyway, at last Ille Bhig: nice short and punchy. Fun to play. Sorry so few listening links – we’ll have to make one ourselves.
Added Cavers of Kirkcudbright
Not an easy tune to spell or say (sounds like cavers (rhymes with ravers) of kircubree), but such a lovely to tune to play (although a bit tricky to learn)… I’m sorry to add such a difficult tune (in F) but very well worth the effort. Sounds great played slowly.. Hope you enjoy Cavers of Kirdcudbright!
Almost Folk Weekend Oxford!
On Friday 21st April, the Folk Weekend Oxford starts and there are many great gigs, jolly ceilidhs and many good sessions to join…
Season tickets have sold out, but there are tickets available for individual events and many events do not need tickets at all… including our own Noah and Alex playing as Bow by Bow at 11.30am on Saturday 22nd April downstairs in Blackwells Bookshop. Also Shivelight (Harriet used to join us at the Gardners’ Arms) are playing on Sunday at 2.30pm in Blackwells.
You can download the full programme on the Folk Weekend website or download just the schedule pdf here.
Hope to see you there. Have fun!
Added Seven Stars
I’ve managed to add the good tune, Seven Stars, suggested by Simon this Easter weekend and found some nice recordings on youtube. I hope you enjoy it too – Happy Easter!
