I’ve been listening to Johsefin’s Waltz for a long time, mostly played by Alasdair Fraser and Natalie Haas, but this year, at their summer camp in Skye, we played it many times at the slow session there and it occurred to me that it would make a good addition to our collection. Written by Roger Tallroth of the Swedish band, Väsen, you can hear them playing it here, and also playing it with Chris Thile too (the legendary mandolin player).
It’s a popular tune on Youtube so there are plenty of examples; here are a few of the ones I thought useful. If you find ones you like too, please do add them to the comments, or email me a link and I’ll add it. It’s not usually played very slowly but it has a good memorable melody so it’s not too difficult to learn by heart. I hope you enjoy it.
