For a long time, I’ve enjoyed Martin Hayes’s Quartet playing this great tune but since they play it in Bb major, I thought it wouldn’t be very popular! But then I discovered that the University Ceilidh band play it in G and that seemed just irresistible. It is often played fast, but it is also very lovely slowly and slightly swung. I hope it will prove a useful addition.

However, I’ve discovered, thanks to Jude noticing it, that actually everyone else plays Brennan’s in D! For the fiddle players, this is not too big a change: just up a string. So I hope this is ok for everyone else too, but I’ve added the notes below for Brennan’s in D in case that is preferred.
