Kilnamona Barndance

This is another lovely tune in F… of course, not everyone plays it in F but Martin Hayes does and so I have to follow. He plays it following Billy Malley’s Barndance and perhaps we will do the same?

The thesession.org has a discussion on the origin of this tune, but it seems to have originated in County Clare, at least for its first recording, and it is not known whether Martin Hayes learned it directly from Gerdie Commane, a concertina player from Clare, who used to play it or later, from John Williams, who had recorded it.

As ever, there are variations in these recordings and I’m not sure in what key they are played … But as long as you are in F, a few notes different will just add to the harmonies!

Recordings:
Martin Hayes (Kilnamona starts at 2.34 mins)
Slow on concertina
Banjo
Fiddle from Fergal Scahill (I think also in F)
Group ensemble (no idea of key but lovely recording!)
